The 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal proved to be a memorable night for the team behind "10,000 Hours," as it won 14 trophies, but equally memorable were quips and stars and their interactions amid stiff competition at the box office.

The event, hosted by Kris Aquino and KC Concepcion, featured several numbers from actors in competing MMFF entries. In their speeches, winning stars also addressed ticket sales vis-a-vis number of awards -- a topic that drew laughs for being brought up so candidly.
In photos, taken by Nimfa Chua for ABS-CBNnews.com, here are some of the memorable moments at the 2013 MMFF awards night:

1. "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy" stars Kiray Celis, Xyriel Manabat, and JM Ibanez opened the awards night with a Christmas-themed number. Other performers of the night included Bela Padilla, Carla Humphries, and Aiza Seguerra.

2. "My Little Bossings" stars Bimby Yap, Jr. and Ryzza Mae Dizon drew cheers when they took the stage with a dance number. For the most part of the night, the two stayed at the side of the stage, where Bimby's mom, Kris, wouldt sit when she was not hosting.

3. Kris Aquino (background) was a self-confessed "stage mom" throughout the awards night, audibly cheering on and encouraging Bimby whenever he took the stage. After the ceremony, the actress spoke with reporters about how proud she was of her son's performance at the event, and as a debuting actor.

4. The Meralco Theater erupted in loud screams when "Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay" stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo sang the hit "Nasayo na ang Lahat." The number was the last of several performances of the night.

5. The first time Daniel Padilla (seen here with director Frasco Mortiz) went up the stage was to accept the Youth Choice Award for "Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay." It was also the first timeshrieks were heard in the theater.

6. When Ryzza Mae Dizon accepted her Best Child Performer award for her role in "My Little Bossings," she was accompanied by co-star Bimby Yap, Jr. on stage. "Bagay po ba kami?" the young actress asked the audience. When the crowd cheered back, she quipped, "Are you crazy?!"

7. "At least, may isa na," Kris Aquino quipped when she received the Best Original Theme Song award for "My Little Bossings." The film went on to win 3rd Best Picture, Best Child Performer for Ryzza Mae Dizon, and Best Supporting Actress for Aiza Seguerra.

8. Daniel Padilla assisted Joyce Bernal as she went down the stage after accepting an award for "10,000 Hours." The director had to go up several times to accept a number of the film's 14 trophies, among them her Best Director award.

9. When Eugene Domingo was called up on stage for the Female Star of the Night award, the actress appeared surprised. She joked that the trophy was a consolation prize for not winning Best Actress, which was given to Maricel Soriano of "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy." "Ito na ba 'yon? It's an honor to be a Star of the Night along with Daniel Padilla!"

10. "10,000 Hours" producers Neil Arce, Boy2 Quizon, and Bela Padilla received the award for Best Original Story. Quizon said they only ever got to brainstorm at Starbucks. "Ngayon pwede na tayong magka-opisina!"

11. Aiza Seguerra, in her speech receiving the Best Supporting Actress award for "My Little Bossings," joked she was expecting to be called among the male nominees for the category. "Sasama na sana loob ko, akala ko tatawagin ako sa Best Actor [nominees]!"

12. Before the awards night, "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy" star Vice Ganda (seen here with director Wenn Deramas) said he only attended the ceremony "para um-outfit." Receiving the 2nd Best Picture trophy for his film, the comedian got to show off his attire on stage.

13. Robin Padilla addressed his nephew, Daniel, in the audience during his speech receiving the Best Picture award for "10,000 Hours." He joked that it was his film's turn to earn at the box office, saying "Pagpag" and other top movies have already earned back their film budgets.

14. A proud Robin Padilla held up his trophy during his Best Actor acceptance speech, saying, "Wala man sa amin ang salapi, nasa amin ang karangalan!" He was referring to the box-office performance of "10,000 Hours," and the film's near-sweep of the festival honors.
